The last time the Kentucky Wildcats received a prediction to land a player from the transfer portal, things didn’t pan out, as Magoon Gwath ended up returning to San Diego State. As a result, there may be some caution from Big Blue Nation when On3’s Pete Nakos (subscription required) projects that Kentucky will land forward Alvaro Folgueiras.
Folgueiras, who is originally from Spain, played for Robert Morris over the past two seasons. In the 2024-25 season, he averaged 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, shooting 41% from beyond the arc and earning Horizon League Player of the Year honors.
One of the most versatile players in the transfer portal, Folgueiras stands at 6’9″ and weighs 215 pounds. He is agile and capable of playing both inside and outside, creating matchup problems for opposing teams.
If Folgueiras were to join Kentucky, it would be a seamless fit. Mark Pope’s offense would allow him to showcase his strengths and give him the opportunity to shine on a national stage.
