The Boston Bruins have announced the signing of prospect Dans Locmelis to a three-year entry-level contract, which will take effect in the 2025-26 season. Additionally, the Original Six franchise revealed that Locmelis will finish the current season with the Providence Bruins on an amateur tryout.
The 21-year-old center was drafted 119th overall by Boston in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, the 6-foot forward has played the last two seasons at UMass-Amherst. Now, with his entry-level contract in place, he is set to embark on his professional career.
Locmelis is coming off an impressive season at UMass, posting career-best numbers with eight goals, 25 assists, and 33 points over 40 games. This followed a solid freshman campaign in 2023-24, where he recorded seven goals and 14 points in 30 games.
As one of the Bruins’ top prospects, signing Locmelis to this deal is a notable development. It will be interesting to see how he progresses and what kind of impact he can have with Boston in the future.
