    Having appeared 20 times in the final stage of the Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria stands out as one of the continent’s most consistent and formidable teams. Since their debut in 1963, the Super Eagles have carved out a rich legacy, marked by remarkable consistency at the highest level of African football.

    Their AFCON journey is punctuated by numerous major milestones:

    – 1963: group stage

    – 1976, 1978: third place

    – 1980: champions

    – 1984, 1988, 1990: runners-up

    – 1992: third place

    – 1994: champions

    – 2000: runners-up

    – 2002, 2004, 2006: third place

    – 2010: third place

    – 2013: champions

    – 2019: third place

    – 2021: round of 16

    – 2023: runners-up

    Three-time African champions (1980, 1994, 2013), Nigeria also boasts a record for consistency with 16 appearances in the semi-finals, on par with Egypt. Having qualified for AFCON 2025, the Super Eagles approach every edition as seasoned contenders on the continental stage.
