Days after being omitted from the Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations squad, it’s now been reported that Andre Onana has been called up to the national team as controversy continues to surface within the Indomitable Lions hierarchy.
Onana was initially omitted from Cameroon’s 28-man squad for the showpiece despite featuring in all of the nation’s qualifying matches where he recorded four clean sheets along the way.
Currently on loan at Trabzonspor from Manchester United, The Sun recently reported that Onana has now been included in Cameroon’s AFCON squad in a sheet that was submitted by former coach Marc Brys before the deadline date.
The former Inter Milan star was left out of the squad by interim coach David Pagou, while Brys ‘stated’ that he was never ‘formally’ told about his sacking.
With Brys seemingly ‘refusing’ to his post, Onana is now caught between what appears to be a power struggle within the Cameroon football federation with it being unclear as to whether he will actually head to the tournament held in Morocco later this month.
