Homestretch, noun: the part of a racecourse between the last turn and the winning post.
The racecourse that is the 2025 NFL regular season has rounded its final corner. Only four weeks remain to settle playoff bids and seeding for all 14 teams that qualify for the postseason. As Week 15 begins, no team has clinched a spot yet, but nine teams have been eliminated.
All bye weeks are over in Week 15, which means the slate of games on Sunday, Dec. 14, is stacked. In total, there will be 14 games kicking off, from the early afternoon slate at 1 p.m. ET to “Sunday Night Football” in Dallas.
A handful of the games on Week 15’s Sunday slate have playoff implications, like the Patriots and Bills’ second meeting of the season. Others are more important for settling some top picks in the NFL draft order, like a clash between the two-win Giants and three-win Commanders.

When do the NFL playoffs start?
This year’s playoffs will start with a three-day wild-card round slate. Two games will take place on Saturday, Jan. 10; two more on Sunday, Jan. 11; and the wild-card round will conclude with a single game on Monday, Jan. 12.
