NFL Week 15 news, live updates: Packers DE Micah Parsons heads to locker room after apparent knee injury

Week 15’s Sunday slate was an eventful one, jam-packed with a number of games with playoff implications in the AFC and NFC — plus a couple of big injuries.

The biggest news of the day comes in the health department, as three-time MVP Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss against the Chargers. Not only were they eliminated from playoff contention for the first time since the 2014 season — they’ll also be without their star quarterback the rest of the way, with Gardner Minshew stepping in as the next man up.

The Green Bay Packers also got some brutal news, as star defensive end Micah Parsons suffered what is feared to be a torn ACL against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Parsons tallied 12.5 sacks over 14 games in his first season with the Packers, following his blockbuster trade from the Cowboys this offseason. He’s notched another 12 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

The Packers will face the Chicago Bears next week in a game that will almost certainly define the division.

Along with the injury news, there were plenty of shake-ups in the NFL playoff race. Here’s where things stand heading into SNF:

    AFC playoff picture

    1. Denver Broncos (12-2)

    2. Chicago Bears (10-4)

    3. Philadelphia Eagles (9-5)

    4. Carolina Panthers (7-7)

Philip Rivers put up a valiant effort in his return to play for the Colts in Week 15, but an interception on the final drive of the game, down two points, officially sealed the win for the Seahawks.

In his first start since the 2020 NFL season, Rivers went 18-of-27 passing for 120 passing yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Jonathan Taylor was the go-to guy in this contest, totaling 25 carries on the day, though it was an inefficient one, averaging just 3.5 yards a pop.

The Colts now fall to 8-6 with a home game against the San Francisco 49ers on “Monday Night Football” in Week 16.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is reportedly out for the year after suffering a torn ACL in Week 15, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports — the same loss that found Kansas City eliminated from playoff contention.

2025 now marks the first season in his career that Mahomes hasn’t notched double-digit wins and a playoff berth since becoming the team’s starter in 2018.

He finishes the 2025 campaign with a career-low 62.7% completion rate, totaling 3,587 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

It’s Matthew Stafford’s second touchdown of the day — both of them having gone to tight end Colby Parkinson.

Parkinson has been on a bit of a hot streak in the second half of the season, scoring a touchdown in five of the past six games, with six total scores in that span. Week 15 marks the first game in Parkinson’s career with multiple touchdown passes.

Meanwhile, it’s Stafford’s seventh consecutive game with multiple touchdown passes. He’s had multiple passing TDs in all but two games this year.

Rams hold a 41-27 lead over the Lions with under five minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

Not long after Rams WR Davante Adams exited with an apparent hamstring injury, star Puka Nacua also was down briefly after a big-time tackle on a 12-yard gain over the middle.

The San Francisco 49ers just caught a massive break in the fourth quarter, as Jeffery Simmons — the Titans’ touchdown hero on the previous drive — is penalized for unnecessary roughness on the field goal, giving the Niners a fresh set of downs.

San Francisco was unable to capitalize on the opportunity, however, and ended up settling for a field goal as Eddy Piñero is good from 37 yards to extend the lead.

The 49ers are now up 34-17 over the Titans with just over nine minutes to go.

Look out world, here Cam Ward comes! He’s got his second consecutive multi-touchdown game in Week 15. And it was … to a big man?!

That’s right — Ward found Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons over the middle for a one-yard touchdown, and with the PAT, Tennessee brings it within 14 with the entire fourth quarter remaining.

Incredibly, that’s actually not Simmons’ first career receiving touchdown, having also snagged a goal-line touchdown on offense back in 2023 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The San Francisco 49ers continue to pile on the Tennessee Titans in Week 15, as Brock Purdy finds All-Pro tight end George Kittle for his third passing touchdown of the day.

It’s been an efficient outing for Purdy, going 17-of-22 passing for 235 yards and three touchdowns so far against the Titans, with an NFL passer rating of 150.6.

That marks Purdy’s second game of the year with three-plus passing touchdowns, having entered this matchup with a 9-7 TD-INT ratio as he’s dealt with some health issues this year. Meanwhile, it’s the sixth touchdown of the year for Kittle, who’s also missed time this year, having dealt with a hamstring injury early in the season that landed him on injured reserve.
