NBA insider Jake Fischer reports that many league executives believe Chicago will retain Giddey this summer. As a restricted free agent, the Bulls have the ability to match any contract offer he receives from other teams, giving them control over his future.

Giddey, who is just 22 years old, had a solid showing early in the season, averaging 11.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.1 steals over his first 45 games, while hitting 44.4% of his shots. However, his performance surged after Zach LaVine was traded to the Sacramento Kings. Over the final 25 games, Giddey posted averages of 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, shooting 49.1% from the field and an impressive 45.1% from beyond the arc.
The financial landscape of the upcoming NBA offseason could also play in the Bulls’ favor. With only a few teams possessing the salary cap space to pursue high-cost free agents, the market for restricted players like Giddey may be limited. As a result, Chicago is widely expected to keep him, potentially signing him to a multi-year contract that could exceed $30 million annually.
