Newcastle Face Higher Price Tag in Pursuit of Anthony Elanga
Newcastle United have been told they must significantly raise their offer if they hope to sign Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest during the current transfer window.
Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior reporter Pete O’Rourke shared updates from sources familiar with the winger’s situation. Nottingham Forest reportedly turned down a £35 million bid from Newcastle last summer, and are now demanding no less than £50 million to consider a deal.
This development comes as Newcastle reignite their interest in the Swedish international, especially after falling short in their efforts to sign Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who is now expected to join Manchester United, as revealed by Football Insider on June 11.
Elanga has emerged as a vital asset for Forest, contributing six goals and 11 assists while playing in every Premier League match of the 2024–25 season. His performances have made him a cornerstone of the team’s attack.
Despite his importance at the City Ground, Elanga is reportedly eager to make the move to Newcastle. According to former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown, who spoke to Football Insider on June 10, the 23-year-old is open to joining the Magpies. Newcastle are now believed to be preparing to open negotiations in an effort to bring him to St. James’ Park.
