It’s very obvious that Gordon Ramsay has some knowledge of the restaurant industry.
With seven Michelin stars and dozens of restaurants across the globe, he is an expert on all things food-related. He says there is one dish that diners should never order when dining out.
That meal? The soup of the day.
In a now-classic Town & Country interview, Ramsay stated that restaurants frequently repurpose leftover produce by dressing it up as a special.
“Ask what yesterday’s soup du jour was before today’s special,” Ramsay advised the crowd. Perhaps this is the soup of the month.”
That’s right—Ramsay is the expert.
He added in the same interview that when he is ordering at new restaurants, he frequently asks waiters and waitresses for advice.
“It really depends on the restaurants, but servers tend to taste most of the dishes on the menu and can give you insight to what the chef has added or what locals love,” he stated.
“Being on the road, I’ve gotten a lot of great recommendations from servers.”
This is Ramsay’s first public appearance since he shared the purportedly motivational counsel he received from his father-in-law and was roundly ridiculed on the internet.
Back in the day, when he asked Tana’s father, Chris Hutcheson, for a loan, the famous chef was talking about saving up the cash for his first apartment.
