Brad Binder’s first day of MotoGP testing in Catalonia was turbulent but eventually fruitful. Despite two tumbles at turn two, the KTM rider recovered to finish an incredible second behind Aleix Espargaró.
I was partially to blame for the first fall; I pushed myself too far and lost my balance before I could start to turn around. Tell Brad Binder that this resulted in a great deal of steering lock before it ended.
Similar events transpired throughout the day when Tie Upr fell again while testing tougher tires. Even though I was moving slowly, I still fell.I’m quite sorry for my crew because they were left to bear the brunt of my lack of a working motorcycle. However, they are incredible; after fixing the bike, they let me do some quick loops.”
Brad Binder: “ It certainly wasn’t my best lap, but we managed to qualify for Q2”
Brad Binder is still upbeat about the KTM’s performance despite the setbacks, as the rider has shown improvement following an inconsistent season opener. It seemed to me that everything went really smoothly. Binder explains, “It certainly wasn’t my best lap, but we managed to qualify for Q2.” Despite the circuit’s general lack of grip, he felt good on the bike.
The South African, who acknowledged he was at fault for the day’s first accident but blamed unavoidable circumstances for the second, has had a strong run following a string of challenging rounds. “Totally my fault, I caused the first fall today.”Everything was missed by me. But what can you do about the second crash? We were far from the ideal temperature, and my front tire was too hard. Binder, who is constantly willing to test himself and his KTM’s boundaries, says, “I just hope to stop falling.”
