Former Oregon Ducks’ stars will battle on Thursday Night Football

With a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday, Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos can secure their first postseason berth since their 2015 Super Bowl victory. The Broncos (9-5) have a chance to break through years of playoff mediocrity as they sit sixth in the AFC standings.~-~ “We have discussed it throughout the year. The most crucial game is the one that comes next. This is our top priority right now,” Nix told reporters on Tuesday. We would be on course to reach our goals with this next one. There is a lot of work ahead of us. We’re going to do it because the work isn’t done.~-~ In a game that has major playoff ramifications for the Chargers (8-6) as well, Nix, the rookie quarterback from Oregon, will take on Justin Herbert, the quarterback for the Chargers and another former Oregon standout. Even though a victory won’t guarantee a postseason berth, the Chargers may still qualify if they defeat the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.~-~ The Chargers recently suffered a crushing defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 40–17. Luckily for them, they had to turn to the Broncos and didn’t have much time to ponder the defeat.~-~ “You’re looking for those opportunities. In December and January, you want to be playing games that have real significance, Herbert told reporters. For them, waking up and becoming thrilled is much simpler. The lads are thrilled about this chance since they know how important they are. It’s undoubtedly a wonderful sensation.~-~ After taking a 23-0 lead going into the fourth quarter, the Chargers had to hold on to defeat the Broncos 23-16 in Week 6. The Broncos are on a four-game winning streak, while the Chargers have dropped three of their last four games.~-~ All of us have experienced the opposite of success. We know how it feels to be knocked down. We wish to avoid becoming that again. Therefore, we want to keep doing what has brought us this far and enabled us to succeed,” Nix told reporters. In order for us to go out there and play a strong game, that means putting in a lot of effort, attending practice, and doing the grunt work.
