Since its inception in the premier class of motorcycle racing in 1965, the Brno track has hosted almost 50 races. 2020 saw the last Grand Prix hosted at Brno.
After a four-year break, the Czech MotoGP at the storied Brno circuit will make a comeback to the schedule in 2025, the event’s organizers confirmed on Wednesday.
Since the city’s inception in the premier motorcycle category in 1965, more than 50 events have been held there. 2020 saw the last Grand Prix hosted at Brno.
At the time, local council members said that the city’s financial struggles as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak prevented them from paying for necessary track repairs.
Before the 1987 track debut in Brno, events were held on a street circuit.
The race will remain on the MotoGP schedule until at least 2029 thanks to a five-year contract.
Petr Fiala, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, stated in a statement that motorcycle racing has a history at the Brno Masaryk Circuit that dates back to the 1950s.
