Brad Binder is KTM’s (second) best rider to date, trailing Pedro Acosta by just two points, and the South African has been the focus of the manufacturer’s dissatisfaction, highlighting some of the issues with the front of the RC16 in particular. KTM is searching for its greatest moment to date.
According to the #33, the front of the bike has been the source of the most complaints. It can occasionally give off a cozy vibe and accelerate you, but it can also be very simple to fall off. Binder emphasized that one must focus on a very thin line:
“We’ve been working on a fine line, with the front of the bike and it seems that if you stay on the bike you can go very fast but it’s also very easy to crash, precisely with the front of the bike, and that’s been our biggest challenge. We’ve found some margin in some areas but at the same time you lose out in others.”
It’s quite easy to fall off right now, according to Binder, which is consistent with the unfortunate remarks he’s been making over the past few GPs: “At the moment it seems that our ultimate set-up leaves us with very little warning with the front and it’s very easy to crash.”
Although things are not going well right now, the seventh-place driver thinks the team is very close to “getting back” to its desired results and that things are not as bad as they may seem. To put it another way, “I think we’re only a few small changes away from getting our results back.”
