Despite difficulties in the main race, Brad Binder made some progress during the Assen round and finished sixth in the Dutch Grand Prix.
It was a bit challenging, the Red Bull KTM South African said, adding to the race’s complexity. Their plan to use the soft rear tire did not work as planned. I had a decent launch, but I didn’t accomplish any significant work in the beginning. In an attempt to keep up with the front boys early on, we chose to use the softer rear tire, but in actuality, their pace was so fast that we had to use a lot of the back tire just to stay with them. Ten laps into the race, I could already tell that we were going to have problems because the soft was clearly falling. I was aware that sitting there was using more tire than I should have.
Following a flawless weekend and a sixth-place finish in both races, Binder emphasized the advancements achieved in an effort to move closer to the front:
I believe we should just use what we’ve learnt this weekend—partially via the setup adjustments and partially through our attempts to identify the next course of action. Since it’s obvious that we need to take action to start battling among the best men. Apart from that, though, it’s okay—we finished the race, which is good. One of the main objectives was to improve my front feeling, as I had been losing the lead in every race and didn’t know why. I completed the entire weekend without experiencing any crashes, indicating that we had discovered something that achieved just that.
