Georgia Football Won’t Participate in Brand New Netflix Documentary. Here’s why.

In a recent Netflix documentary, Kirby Smart and his football squad decided not to take part.

A few weeks ago, the 2024 college football regular season came to an official end, and the Georgia Bulldogs had an incredible journey. It appeared that Georgia supporters would not be able to relax for the remainder of the season after defeating Clemson and Tennessee Tech—that is, until UMass arrived. A tight matchup with Kentucky, an almost miraculous victory over Alabama, a significant victory over Texas away from home, a thrilling victory over Florida, a difficult defeat to Ole Miss, a commanding performance against Tennessee, eight overtimes versus Georgia Tech, and overtime in the SEC Championship. According to Kirby Smart, it is nearly worthy of a documentary, but not quite.

On Wednesday, it was made public that Netflix has been developing a documentary series that would debut in the summer of 2025. Throughout the season and during games, the series will provide behind-the-scenes glimpses at SEC teams. However, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Texas were among the teams that did not participate.

Georgia’s reluctance to appear in such a series is consistent with the type of Athens Smart has created. Georgia cares a lot about their actions and prioritises oneself over everything else. After defeating Texas, Smart himself stated: “We didn’t come here to take photographs. We intended to eat.
