Yesterday morning, Fabio Quartararo tested a new engine on the Yamaha M1, which might serve as the foundation for the vehicle’s powertrain next year. The former world champion feels that the power delivery is now more immediate, even though it hasn’t changed all that much.
The Frenchman described his testing after yesterday morning’s test, saying, “We tried a new engine, different things on the bike.” This afternoon, we will test a new fork on the bike in addition to the chassis that we tried at the GP.
He elaborated, saying, “The engine isn’t very different, we’ve worked on the connection between the throttle and the power delivery, which is now more direct and we have to figure out how to get the best out of it, so normally I’d say it’s the basis for 2025.” The differences aren’t revolutionary, but they are noticeable.
Quartararo finished fifth in the combined test results, finishing 0.444 seconds behind Pecco Bagnaia’s fastest lap of 1’31.063s.
